ADAPT is the acronym for Architectural Design Association of Portugal & Turkey. It originated from the convergence of two established architectural practices — Impromptu Arquitectos, based in Porto, and Mese Arquitectos, based in Istanbul — both active since 2008.

ADAPT Arquitetos was founded in January 2013 by Nuno Rosado and Selahattin Tüysüz, emerging from the conceptual affinity and professional complementarity of its founders. With academic backgrounds from leading institutions such as the Bauhaus Dessau Foundation and the Architectural Association School of Architecture, and professional experience in internationally renowned offices such as the Office for Metropolitan Architecture (OMA) and Zaha Hadid Architects, the founders consolidated a demanding cultural and technical foundation, supported by professional practice, research, and regular participation in international conferences and exhibitions.

ADAPT Arquitetos develops work in the fields of architecture, urbanism, and interior design, engaging with projects of varying scales and programs. Its practice is grounded in an integrated approach, where concept, technical feasibility, regulatory framework, and construction supervision are understood as inseparable parts of a single process. Each project is approached as a synthesis of context, program, and client ambition. Physical, economic, and cultural constraints are interpreted as active design material, transforming complexity into formal and constructive clarity. Our methodology combines critical thinking, technical rigor, and innovation, resulting in contemporary, feasible, and enduring architectural solutions.

We oversee all phases of the process — preliminary studies, licensing, detailed design, coordination of engineering disciplines, and construction management — ensuring conceptual coherence, budget control, and construction quality through to final completion. More than producing buildings, ADAPT seeks to create value: spatial value, urban value, and economic value. We believe architecture must respond precisely to present needs while maintaining consistency, identity, and permanence over time.
